Winter Hike in Rocky Mountain National Park (2022)
I don’t think we have them in Fort Collins. I usually hear Mourning Doves but not these.
Im tryna help my boy go hiking full time!
Thanks homie!!
Have done this one several times. On a clear day one can see the Tetons. Nice footage. Thanks for posting!
I searched this video because an article told me that the "Killdeer call" sounds like the bird is saying "kill deer" Turns out, it sounds nothing like "kill deer" and whoever named this bird has mental issues. Beautiful bird though
they have more than one call. the other one sounds more like it
Man, I’ve gone through so many videos… even looked at a few linked to literal bird websites…. Not one of them sounds like “Kill Deer”. It just sounds like “eee Eee” as someone else pointed out, which the word “kill” certainly doesn’t sound like to begin with Kinda disappointed, if I’m being honest, but at least they are still cool birds
Nice winter perspective, thanks
Leash is a must!
I'll be hiking this trail on Saturday. I am very excited about this one. The views look to be amazing!
Got a couple of these nesting at my work in Memphis TN, which is apparently way out of their natural zone in America
I did the hike today. I’m 14 and I’ll admit that scatter part towards the top was very intense. Glad I had my parents close by.
The redwing black bird, american robin, and this kill deer are native where I'm from, and I love listening to them all when I'm spending time newr our waterways.
I hiked up to Delicate Arch back in July 2021, and I tell y’all that was a wonderful experience and an adventure just hiking up to get to it I sure would do it again pretty soon!! 🤩😁👌🏽
They're so cute
I swear I saw you here not too long ago 😂😂
What a good hike!
Sorry but looks just as if you’ve filmed with an iPhone, not impressed
In many tests the newest iphone will outperform the newest gopro in terms of contrast and sharpness. GoPro is more for the 'this is my dedicated camera im not afraid to drop or get dirty' hence the nick name 'action cam'. Also 1/3rd the price of the iphone
I was at Timber Creek Campground in RMNP last September. Beautiful.
Good vid. We'll be out in Aug to get G/T as our 2nd and 3rd 14er. Love the Tilley hat, almost identical to mine.
Today i saw this bird walking on the asphalt on my street...so weird there was no water nearby. There were lots of them
The music is way too loud and annoying.
Not a fan of this video. They start so early that there’s no video before The Ledges - so much beauty in the pre-dawn light missed. Then, there’s the incessant ‘not very hard’ nonsense. Longs is a challenging climb. People die on this mountain. Perhaps this guy feels the need to show off. It’s misleading and does a disservice both to people who haven’t yet climbed Longs and to those who have.
Never said 'not very hard'. From this comment it seems you didn't watch the video. But thanks for watching, even though, I don't think you did
Them legs tho
Sounds like a marshland bird. BEAUTIFUL!!
Finding dory in a nutshell
Wow. Mind-blowing!!! From a fellow bacpacker. I always have felt at one with God and Natureoutin the ColoradoWilderness!!!!
I feel so blessed to have found this video on my bday today. Ive lived in Colorado my whole life (1998) and never even heard of Pacific Tarn. It is so beautiful and pristine; virtualy untouched by man. Thank you for teaching me more about the state i call home. Best gift so far was to find this video and if you had decided not to make it i wouldn't have found it to enjoy.
Hey Dave did you know the route past Lyric Falls goes to Meeker Meadows and then up the SW ridge of Mt. Meeker. Im planning this hike this summer. It's about 14 miles or so high class 2.
Let me know how the route went !!
That has to be the cleanest, best tasting water in the world.
15:42 man this view/terrain/elements brings back some memories. LOVE being up high on a windy pass so much <3
@Davespates Well done sir. Been following you for years and usually go to your videos for hikes up in RMNP. Definitely used your videos for Chasm Lake and Sky pond!!! I just got a GPH12 and would like to get into making short hiking videos. What do you dump all the video clips into to create your final video?
Hey, sorry for the late reply, I use premiere pro
Thanks for letting me know about castle lake
Thanks for filming, great experience!
Thanks for the video. I’m new to all this and looking to log my hikes - the full hike for posterity. I have my iPhone but thought a dedicated camera would be better. I got a GoPro 12 I need a way to mount it so I don’t need to carry it. Videos like this help a lot!
Kudos to you guys for finishing this hike. Those views are amazing. Can’t wait to hit GTNP this July. Don’t worry, I’ll be another idiot to swim in Delta Lake! Lol.
Do you need a 4x4 vehicle to get to the trailhead?
Going around the backside is also wonderful - up bear canyon and then the west ridge trail.
👍👍
Any special gear needed to hike this in mid-late April? Do you know about how much snow will be left?
I love the boomer face and camera angle. It compliments the wind in the microphone so well.
Wow, so positive. Let's see your video
I'd like to do Pacific Tarn but don't wish to go alone. Can you lead a hike, Dave?
Awesome thanks You for the Great Video!!! 🦅🦢🐦 😁👍🤩🤩
so nice to not know where or how to get to the trailhead other than it is probably somewhere in southwest Co. ?👎
Great content but the music is distracting. I just turned the volume off. Thanks for posting.
informative video, thanks for the help
This looks great! We are planning on doing something like this. What dates was this during the year? Also, where did you guys park?
Some of the formations at Bryce Canyon are just so intricately carved, it's hard to believe they're natural rock formations!
Great video. Love the slow-mo!
Awesome hike! What time of the year is this? I’m going mid December, wondering if it would be good?
What trail?
Great review and thanks so much for the tips. It’s a really nice area no doubt and thanks for the wildlife and rain warnings.
Great video! Good work
